Before the throne of god above (C)
Before the throne of God above
we have a strong and perfect plea;
a great high priest, whose name is Love,
who ever lives and intercedes.
Our names are written on his hands;
our names are hidden in his heart.
We know that while in heaven he stands
no power can force us to depart;
no power can force us to depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair
and tells me of the guilt within,
upward I look and see him there
who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Saviour died
my sinful soul is counted free;
for God, the Just, is satisfied
to look on him and pardon me;
to look on him and pardon me.
Behold him there, the risen Lamb,
our perfect, spotless righteousness;
the great unchangeable ‘I AM’;
the King of glory and of grace.
One with our Lord we cannot die;
our souls are purchased by his blood.
Our lives are safe with Christ on high;
with Christ our Saviour and our God;
with Christ our Saviour and our God.
One with our Lord we cannot die;
our souls are purchased by his blood.
Our lives are safe with Christ on high;
with Christ our Saviour and our God;
with Christ our Saviour and our God.
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.”
